Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy involves breathing concentrated oxygen in a pressurised environment, allowing increased oxygen availability to tissues during recovery and wellness programmes.

INITIAL REVIEW

An Initial Review and Blood analysis is required prior to availing of Well Nurse Clinic IVNT. 
 
This is to ensure the health and safety of all our Clients as well as assisting the Well Nurse Clinic Medical team to formulate a recommended individualised Treatment plan that is tailored to your needs.
 
The review consists of a discussion and overview of your needs and options, a medical assessment and blood analysis.
 
If you have had the relevant bloods required already taken from another Health Care Facility,  you can present to Well Nurse Clinic with the report to be reviewed to determine if they are sufficient. Otherwise Blood tests will be required on the day of Initial review.

HBOT does not replace medical treatment. Suitability for HBOT is assessed on an individual basis. We may work alongside your GP or consultant where appropriate.

What to Expect

  • Initial Review, nurse assessment (required for new clients)

  • 60–75 minutes at target pressure
  • Extended sessions up to 90 minutes where appropriate

Total appointment time: approximately 1 hour 45 minutes (longer for initial assessments).

Is HBOT safe?

HBOT at Well Nurse Clinic is offered following suitability screening and nurse-led supervision. Safety and comfort are prioritised at all times.

HBOT is offered as supportive wellbeing care and does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment. Clients are encouraged to continue care with their GP or consultant as appropriate.

 

What might I notice after a session?

Responses vary between individuals. Some clients report feeling:

  • relaxed or calm
  • refreshed
  • mildly tired

Others notice no immediate change. Experiences can differ depending on individual wellbeing, session frequency and overall context.

How do I prepare for an HBOT session?

Preparation is simple. Clients are usually advised to:

  • wear comfortable clothing
  • avoid heavy makeup, perfumes or oil-based products
  • arrive well hydrated
  • follow any individual guidance discussed during assessment

Full preparation instructions are provided before your first session.

 

How does HBOT feel during the session?

As the chamber pressurises, you may notice a sensation of pressure in your ears, similar to flying or driving through hills. This usually settles quickly and can be managed by swallowing, yawning or gentle ear-clearing techniques, which will be explained beforehand.

Most clients describe the session as:

  • relaxing
  • quiet
  • an opportunity to rest

Some people read, listen to music or simply relax during the session.
