Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
A calm, private and nurse-led approach to hyperbaric oxygen therapy in Co. Galway.
Our programmes are individually planned following consultation and suitability screening, with each stage explained clearly before you begin.
Could HBOT Be Right for You?
You may be exploring HBOT as part of your recovery, alongside an existing treatment plan, to support physical performance, or because an ongoing health concern has affected how you feel and function.
You do not need to know which programme you need before contacting us. We begin with a private conversation to understand what has brought you to HBOT, review relevant health information and explain honestly whether it may be suitable for you.

What Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy takes place inside a chamber where the air pressure is gradually increased above normal atmospheric pressure.
At Well Nurse Clinic, the chamber is pressurised with air while oxygen is delivered through a mask.
Most oxygen in the blood is carried by haemoglobin within the red blood cells, with only a small amount dissolved directly in the plasma. Breathing oxygen under increased pressure allows more oxygen to dissolve into the plasma alongside the oxygen already carried by the red blood cells.
This oxygen-enriched plasma circulates throughout the body, increasing the oxygen available for delivery to the tissues. This is one of the key physiological principles behind hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
During your session, you can sit back, read or relax inside the spacious chamber. You can communicate with us throughout, and every session is monitored by a nurse.
What Happens During a Session?
Before You Begin
We complete a consultation and suitability screening, review your relevant medical history and explain what to expect. Your pressure level, oxygen use and session plan are individually considered.
Inside the Chamber
The chamber is gradually pressurised with air. You may notice a feeling of fullness in your ears, similar to travelling by aeroplane. We guide you through simple ways to equalise the pressure comfortably. Oxygen is delivered through a mask during the planned periods of your session.
Throughout Your Session
You can sit back, read or relax while remaining able to communicate with us. A nurse monitors your session from beginning to end, and the pressure is gradually returned to normal before you leave the chamber.
Why Clients Explore HBOT
People contact us about hyperbaric oxygen therapy for many different reasons. These may include supporting recovery following surgery or injury, persistent fatigue or reduced recovery, certain long-term health concerns, sporting recovery, or a general interest in supporting health and wellbeing.
The evidence for HBOT varies depending on the condition, individual circumstances and treatment protocol. It is not suitable for everyone and should not replace medical assessment or prescribed treatment.
We take time to understand your goals, review your relevant health history and explain the available evidence honestly. Where appropriate, HBOT may be considered as a supportive therapy alongside your existing medical care.
A clinically guided programme, adapted to your life.
Your Individual HBOT Programme
There is no single programme that is suitable for everyone. Your plan is developed following consultation and suitability screening, taking account of your health history, current medical care, individual goals and the reason you are considering HBOT.
We will advise you on the programme we believe is most appropriate, including the proposed chamber pressure, oxygen delivery, session duration and recommended frequency. From there, we work with you to create a realistic schedule that considers your lifestyle, availability and budget. You may follow the recommended programme or attend at a pace that suits you, and we will explain honestly how any changes in frequency may affect the intended plan.
Your experience and progress are reviewed throughout, allowing the programme to be adapted where appropriate. Every recommendation is explained clearly, with no pressure to commit to a larger course.
